Alex Iwobi scored for Everton and Andros Townsend sealed a 2-1 win against Huddersfield in the League Cup second round on Tuesday at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Iwobi grabbed the opening goal (26′) on a difficult night for Rafa Benitez’s side following a sending off for Moise Kean.
But the hosts had levelled before the Italian was given his marching orders. Tom Lees cancelled out Everton’s goal with an equalizer just before the break.
However, the Toffees will have the final say and summer signing Townsend came through with a 79th minute winner.
Draw for the third round of the competition will hold August 25.
