Yira Sor started his first league game since joining KRC Genk from Slavia Prague and the midfielder marked the occasion with an early goal in the Jupiler League game against Waregem.

Sor netted in the 10th minute to put the hosts ahead in his second appearance for Genk and it proved to be enough for all three points on the night.

The 22 year-old midfielder was eventually subbed off for compatriot and league top scorer, Paul Onuachu in the 72nd minute.

Head coach Wouter Vrancken dropped Onuachu to the bench over fatigue concerns as the big Forward showed signs of slowing down in the Belgian Cup defeat to Antwerp during the week.

Meanwhile, Genk continued their impressive unbeaten home record, which they now stretched to 11 games (10w 1d) in the league.

Vrancken’s side have now opened a 10points gap at the summit of the League after 20 rounds of matches.
