Bologna of Italy have given the first step of a career breakthrough to Nigerian former youth international, Kingsley Michael, with a key role in their first preseason match.
Michael will now aim for a glorious season with Bologna, after making hay with the senior squad in their 8-0 win over Pinzolo.
It is a stark contrast to last season, when the 18-year-old was denied a chance to play for the club’s first team in pre-season, due to visa issues.
However, after shinning with Bologna’s B-team last season, Michael has received a major chance to make his mark in the main squad, and promptly got an assist in their first win of the summer.
The performance also puts Michael in good stead with the main squad ahead of the start of the Italian Serie A season, for which he has already been handed a jersey number.
The youngster, fondly called ‘Kaka Trigger’ by close friends, has been upgraded to number 14, from the huge figure 88 he wore last season, in a move to cement a spot for the Italian Cup and league outings by Bologna this time out.
