The 2023/24 Nigerian Premier League season is scheduled to kick-off on August 26, and as full league format.

On Thursday, the NPL board held a stakeholders meeting where it deliberated on whether to maintain the abridged format of the season as employed last season.

The format was popularly kicked against by not only managers but as well players, who felt the abridged format was too difficult to maintain or did not provide the true winners of the league.

However, on the other divide the abridged format was embraced because of its financial benefits to clubs l, in the cost of operation.

After hearing all sides of the argument, the board agreed to run the full league format that would be in tandem with what is largely obtainable around the world and in the big leagues.

The FIFA calendar for international matches would also be observed.
