Group A action in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers will get underway, Thursday, and the game between Nigeria and Sierra Leone will take center stage.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, Leone Stars head Coach John Kester said his team is ready to give the hosts a big fight.
Kester, who led the tiny West African nation to a decent show at the AFCON in Cameroon earlier this year, insists his players know what to expect and will focus on their approach rather than quality of the Opposition in the game.
Two years ago Sierra Leone stunned Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Benin City, fighting back from 4-0 to draw and pick a point in a World Cup qualifier.
The Coach expects another “difficult game” but insists his team has the mentality to also play a good game.
“I think it’s going to be very difficult, we know that, coming to Nigeria on the back of their results lately, we know that,” Kester said about the fixture.
“But we’re going to worry about what we do as Sierra Leone and how we approach the game Tomorrow and hopefully, again, with our approach it’ll give us something going away from the match.
“But we’re very strong around our approach Tomorrow.”
“We are going to come with a very strong mentality that’s for sure. So it’s like you said, two different games but we are looking forward to Tomorrow.”
