Katsina United beat Kwara United 1 – 0 in the final to emerge as the Champions of this year’s edition of the NPFL/Laliga U15 Promises Tourney decided at the Goal Project Package B Area of the National Stadium in Abuja.

 

Salihu Sani’s 53 minutes strike from a clever through pass from Mustapha Mukhtar broke the deadlock and sealed the winner for Katsina United to emerge as the new Champions of the 2019 NPFL/Laliga U15 Promises Tourney

The encounter could not live up to its build up billing as the game produced less talking points

Sunday final was a close contest as both teams played with caution in the first half in order to avoid unnecessary mistakes that could lead to goal.

There was an early penalty shout from the bench of Katsina United after a long ball forward found Salihu Sani in the area of Kwara United, he dribbled past his marker and was eventually brought down, the referee waved play on just three minutes into the proceedings

Kwara United who then surge forward on 20 minutes and won a free kick just on the edge of Katsina United box, the resulting curling effort by Fatai Ganiyu from the free kick was parried to safety by Katsina United goalkeeper Abubakar Husaini to deny the Young Harmony Boys from taking the lead

The rest of the first half was cagey as both teams went to the break with no goal to separate them

On resumption, Katsina United were the more determined side as they took the game to their opponent and got the first shot on target of the second half through Sabiu Isiaka but Abayomi Aiyenugba was on hand to make an easy save.

Musa Muhammed missed a seater that could have gave Katsina United the lead on 45 minutes after he connected a lovely pass from Salyman Mojeed but his finish was wayward

However, Katsina United eventually broke the deadlock on 53 minutes through Salihu Sani who connected a clever through pass that beat the defense of Kwara United from Muatapha Mukhtar

Kwara United fought back and introduced fresh legs but could not find their way back into the game as Katsina United ran away with a slim victory.
