Former NFF Chairman of Chairmen, Ibrahim Gusau has been declared winner of the just concluded NFF elections in Benin, after a rerun.
The new NFF president, who was a member of CAF organizing committee and former chairman of Zamfara FA, totaled 39 votes out of an available 41 voters, even though 44 were eligible to vote.
Due to the rules of the elections, 50% + 1 of the total number of votes have to be polled for a winner to be declared.
With no contestant getting the absolute majority of the votes yet, a re run was called.
However, in a dramatic twist, the main contestants including Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi stepped down.
Former Super Eagles goalie, Peterside Idah however, would not join the legion of contestants who threw in the towel, as he insisted on a fair competition.
He however, got disappointed once again, as he recorded only one vote.
At the end of the day, out of 41 votes and one invalid, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau emerged winner with 39 votes, claiming absolute majority.
