Ex international Waidi Akanni has backed Jose Peseiro to help lead the Super Eagles to win the next African Cup of Nations.

Nigeria last won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 and the fans have continued to wait for the next title and it was a challenge the Portuguese gladly accepted.
Peseiro has made it clear that he wants his team to end the wait by winning the next African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ivory Coast in 2024.
Akanni who spoke to FL, hailed the Portuguese for his determination and backed him to deliver the title.
“We haven’t seen much from him, to judged him so far, although the team played well during the African Cup qualifiers.
“It’s good that he’s dreaming of winning the next African Cup Nations, at least he challenging himself and I believe he can do it.”
The Super Eagles started the qualification round on a positive note, romping to a 10-0 win over minnows Sao Tome and Principe, after beating Sierra Leone 2-1 in the opening game.
