Jose Mourinho’s European love story is unending and once again the Portuguese maestro opened another chapter, as he led AS Roma to their second ever European final, in back-to-back seasons.

Last season he won the Europa Conference League with them and this season he is repeating the same trick just this time it’s in the Europa League.

Mourinho’s team had to do it the hard way but they delivered another defensive masterclass against a Xabi Alonso-led Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay Arena.

Roma surrendered over 70 percent of the ball possession and recorded no shot on target, but a clean sheet was all they needed to set up a mouth-watering final against former champions, Sevilla.

The Spanish side saw off Italian giants Juventus, as Erik Lamela’s extra-time goal was enough to decide the tie after being inseparable for 180 minutes.

The winner of the finals gets to play in the UEFA Super Cup and also gain automatic qualification to the Champions League, a feat both teams badly need to achieve as they are finishing outside the top four of their respective leagues.
