Super Eagles combative midfielder John Ugochukwu Ogu might be leaving Isreali premier League defending champion Hapoel Be’er Sheva at the end of the season but a letter of appreciation from a family in Israel has left him breathless.
Ogu joined the Isreali club in the summer of 2014 spending five years with the side featuring in several leagues for the club including the UEFA Champions League playoffs, and the UEFA Europa League.
Ogu was voted the best footballer in Israel in the 2016/2017 league season and is a cult hero with fans of the club.
Ogu displayed the emotional letter on his Twitter handle with the caption. “Got this special letter from a special family before practice today. Means a lot to me and I will cherish this day all my life”
The letter addressed to the Nigerian international reads in parts; “Dear John, we deeply appreciate you as a human, as a footballer, and as a leader. We appreciate your character and determination. We quickly recognized that behind your tough looks there is a special human, warm, kind and who cares about the fans.”
The writer has also invited the Nigerian star to have a meal with them at their home at the insistence of his three-year-old daughter. “Since we heard that you are leaving, we decided to fulfill her wish. Let us give you the respect you deserve. Come to our warm and humble home when it is suitable for you before you leave.”
Despite the rumor of his departure from Hapoel Be’er Shever making the rounds, the former Akwa Starlet player is yet to disclose his next career destination.
