Iwobi’s Everton debut ends in defeat

Nigeria International Alex Iwobi was a second half substitute in Everton’s first league defeat of the season. The Toffees were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa at the Villa Park on Friday.

Iwobi was named on the Everton bench for the second time since his deadline day move from Arsenal and played for 29 minutes in Villa Park.

 

The Winger replaced Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 61st minute and almost made an instant impact. His was denied his first goal by the upright.

 

He was subsequently a constant thorn in the flesh of Villa defenders, but it was the hosts who would come out on top.

 

Brazilian Wesley Moraes got the first goal for Aston Villa, while Anwar El Ghazi added the second goal late on.
