Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi was in action for the entire 90 minutes in Everton’s 2-nil loss to Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s Premier League game in London.
It was a bad day in the office for Everton players as they were outclassed by Antonio Conte’s men.
Everton held off the advances of Tottenham in the first half as it was goalless after the first 45 minutes.
At the start of the second half, Tottenham began to dominate but they couldn’t get through, not until a rash Jordan Pickford tackle on Harry Kane handed Tottenham a penalty.
Pickford couldn’t gather from a weak shot he punched, he instead caught the legs of Harry Kane to give away a penalty.
England’s captain converted to give Tottenham the lead even though Pickford guessed the right way.
It was an uneventful afternoon in attack for Everton, as they only attempted 4 shots and none was on target, Pierre-Emile HĂžjbjerg scored the second to compound Everton’s misery.
A deflected shot got past Pickford although there was nothing the England goalkeeper could do about it.
Everton have now lost back-to-back games – as the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last week – as they head to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle next.
The first half of the Serie A clash between Bologna and Cremonese was pale, but after the interval, the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium suddenly produced fireworks following David Okereke's penalty.
