After a disappointing 3 – 1 loss in the UEFA Europa League to Stade de Rennes on Thursday, Nigerian international Alex Iwobi has stated that he is hopeful the team can turn things around at the Emirates.
Iwobi put the Gunners ahead in the 4th minute of the encounter after Rennes goalkeeper Tomas Koubek misjudged his cross to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang which found itself in the net as the visitors continued to pile early pressure on the home team.
The tide changed when the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Greece international Sokratis Papastathopoulous received his marching order in the 41st minute with a second bookable offense.
Reacting to the result the Super Eagles star stated that the team’s chances of qualifying to the next round are very high as they will be playing in front of their home fans he said. “Still Got Another 90 … We Go Again.”
Despite criticisms about him being inconsistent, Iwobi has performed better this campaign compared to previous seasons in terms of impact on games and goal return. The former academy player has scored five goals for Arsenal in all competitions this season his best return in a single campaign for the Gunners.
