Alex Iwobi has a little over one year left on his current Everton contract, but the managerial shake up and Club’s potential relegation from the Premier League puts contract talks in jeopardy.
Understandably, the two parties would seek an amicable approach to deciding what plays out in the future.
However, Everton will hope to beat the drop or bank on tying the 26 year-old player down to an extension, but, both options seem like long shots.
Iwobi will have to be magnanimous to consider signing an extension to the 17 months left on his contract and can decide on a future away from the Club as a free agent.
While he owes a gratitude to Frank Lampard for keeping faith, when he had become an after thought at the club, Iwobi will surely have a tough decision to make following the sack of the Manager.
A young versatile Midfielder with the potentials to still reach a progressive curve in his career as we’ve seen over the course of this season, the Nigerian simply needs the right environment to thrive and with the responsibility as an important player he could truly become a Star.
These are opportunities a Championship Everton team won’t avail player and these thoughts should among others surely form the foundation of the consideration on his next move.
