Ahead of Nigeria’s international friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, the head Coach Jose Peseiro has been forced to drop Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi as the two have been ruled out with injuries.

Aina and Awoniyi both missed this weekend’s Premier League fixture for Forest and manager Steve Cooper gave updates on the Nigerian duo.

While Awoniyi is expected to be out for at least a month with muscle stress, Aina’s injury picked up a hamstring injury.

On Sunday, Super Eagles official, Babafemi Raji gave notification on the situation and provided names of the replacements called up by the Coach.

RB Tyronne Ebuehi and FW Umar Sadiq will now join up with the squad in the Faro camp for the friendlies.

Ebuehi and Umar were not called up in the initial 25-player list announced last week, although the former was named in Nigeria’s recent international game.

Ebuehi was on the bench in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe.

The 27 year-old has 11 caps for Nigeria, while Umar, who has not featured for Nigeria since June 2022 in the AFCON Qualifiers, has been capped 7 times.

In the Friendlies, Nigeria will first play Saudi Arabia on October 13, and three days later they’ll face Mozambique.
