John Mikel Obi has revealed that he’s not ready to extend his stay at the Riverside beyond the current season.
The Nigerian Captain arrived at the Club in January from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda and has distinguished himself for Tony Pulis’s men over the season.
However Nigeria international hinted that he won’t be extending his stay at the Club after they failed to pick a playoff ticket despite their 2-1 win against Rotherham United on Sunday.
”I still want to win trophies, so I will go somewhere where you know, the players, the fans and the team want to win,” he said.
Mikel captained Boro in its last six games despite and went on to featured in 17 league matches, and addd he will carefully study all the offers at his disposal.
”I don’t know, you can never say never. My contract ends, if there’s a conversation, okay fine,” the former Chelsea star said.
”It’s a great club, it’s a big club. They will find the right players, get that dressing room back and make sure next season they are in the playoffs or automatic promotion.
”I don’t know, we’ll see what happens. I have conversation with my people and then we’ll see what comes out, options here and there.
”There’s a lot of option but you always have to pick the right one, the one that is going to suit you and suit the way you play and what you want to achieve.
