Victor Osimhen made his return from injury in the UEFA Champions League match between Napoli and Ajax inside the Estádio Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday.

In a true marksman fashion, Osimhen announced his return with a goal, which he celebrated wildly with the Napoli Ultras – not minding he got booked for peeling off his shirt in the process.

The 23 year-old last featured for the Serie A side in the opening UCL match against Liverpool in Naples.

He picked up an injury in the first half, missing six games in that time.

On Wednesday night, the Forward was brought on in the second half, as replacement for Giacomo Raspadori (50′).

The Nigerian forward quickly made his presence felt, with his pressing and aggressive attacking plays, forcing the opposition to errors at the back.

His introduction turned the momentum in favor of Napoli, who were on the back foot, minutes after the restart and had seen their two-goal lead halved.

Napoli won a penalty in the process to restore their two-goal lead and though there was another goal on the other end, the Nigerian’s tenacity in the night would eventually pay off.

Earlier on Osimhen showed some rustiness with his runs behind defenders and had a big miss inside the six-yard box, although replays show he was slightly off side.

With the game winding down, the Nigerian would get his moment and it was his speed and aggressive pressing that counted for him.

He tackles the ball off Daley Blind, who had received a back pass. Osimhen hardly settled himself before tucking the ball into an empty night to extend Napoli’s lead to 4-2.

The Gli Azzurri book their progress to the next round, unbeaten in the group stages and have won all four rounds of matches played – scoring 17 goals.
