Ikedia Reveals Most Memorable National Team Moments

Two remarkable moments stand out in the international career of former Super Eagles winger, Pius Ikedia, as the 42 year-old relives his days in the national team.

Ikedia, a pacey winger picked his involvement with the Flying Eagles at the 1999 FIFA U20 World Cup as the most memorable times in his NT career.

The former Player, who earned 15 caps playing for Nigeria, revealed that he would never forget his moment when he scored the equalizer against Republic of Ireland in the round of 16 at the U20 World Cup.

He also chose his debut with the Nigerian senior team against Tunisia at the AFCON 2004 as another remarkable moment for him.

“The Nigeria 1999 I remember the game we played in Kaduna in the round of 16 against Ireland, that was my best game for the U 20,” Ikedia recalled. “I scored in the game and also a penalty against Ireland, nobody expected us to beat them.”

“For the Super Eagles it was the 2004 Nations cup, the game against Tunisia in the semi-final it was crazy, I came on in the second half but we lost by penalty.”
