Iheanacho Takes Extra Interest In Free Kicks

Date:

Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho has taken extra interest in trying out free kicks in training with the Super Eagles, as he appears eager to improve on the quality of his set pieces during national team matches.

Against the backdrop of a rather insipid performance by the former Manchester City whiz-0kid against England last weekend at Wembley Stadium, Iheanacho has taken up the gauntlet to personally put himself back into reckoning with the Eagles, starting with the conversion of any free kick that comes his way.

With that in mind, Iheanacho is aiming to put an end to Nigeria’s perennial weaknesses of the Nigerian team during international games and tournaments.

Iheanacho, who was the last player to score for Nigeria directly from a free kick when he scored against Argentina in a 4-2 friendly win has taken it as a challenge as Nigeria gears up for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Iheanacho was involved in extra drills, as he aimed to force his way back into the starting line-up and solve the issue of scoring directly from free kicks for the senior national team of Nigeria.

Iheanacho did extra drills on his fitness and particularly took time out to work on taking free kicks using different means in a personal training session.

The quest and hunger to break into the starting line up has seen most of the players practice extra session to force their way into the line up when the World Cup begins on the 14th of June.

Iheanacho was also very lively and his sharpness was well noticed in the way he was gliding past his markers during the session which lasted a little over an hour.
