Igudia: Akwa United can challenge for title

Date:

Akwa United central defender Godspower Igudia insists they can challenge for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

The Promise Keepers are second with 41 points after 24 round of matches.

Igudia is confident they can compete with the big guns in the top flight.

“On paper, it seems impossible for Akwa United to compete with the likes of Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Rangers and Plateau United. It’s very difficult due to their track record in recent years,” Igudia said.

“However, at this moment, we can challenge for the league title. We can compete with anyone. It’s no coincidence that we sit second in the league table,” he reflected in a chat with Footballlive.ng.

“We’ll just have to see where we are at the end of the season. We’re going to keep fighting to win one game at a time without thinking any further ahead.”
