Odion Ighalo was on target for Shanghai Shenhua in their 1 – 2 defeat to Beijing Guoan on Friday night.
Ighalo was harmful for the visitors’ defense all through the night but his side’s inability to finish off their chances cost them dearly.
The visitors took the lead through Congolese forward Cédric Bakambu in the 3rd minute of the game.
Former Super Eagles forward Ighalo was booked in the 32nd minutes, before he finally leveled for Shenhua (58′) from the penalty spot.
Bakambu then turned provider for Renato Augusto four minutes later to give the visitors all three points.
Following the defeat Shanghai Shenhua remain 12th on the log with 30 points from 28 games in the league this season.
