Nigeria international Victor Osimhen says Eagles Chinese based striker Odion Ighalo is an inspiration to him and hope to play alongside the former Watford striker in the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Ighalo scored seven goals during the AFCON qualifiers to lead the Super Eagles back to the African biggest Football League for the first time since winning the competition in 2013.
“A striker like Odion Ighalo has been an inspiration for me. He speaks with me all the time and I have learned a lot from him.
”He’s an experienced striker and an important player in the team. At Wolfsburg I didn’t have a great time and a few people wrote me off but I thank God things are looking good now,”
Osimhen who’s in the best form of his life added that he’s not assured of a place in the Super Eagles team to the AFCON, because the team is blessed with great talents.
“It’s very difficult to be in the Super Eagles because we have so many good players doing so well for their clubs.
Osimhen has scored 12 league goals in 25 appearances for Charleroi in the Belgian Pro League concluded and also netted incredible hattrick against Libya to help Nigeria U-23 qualify for the next round of U-23 AFCON qualifier.
