Coaches throwing shades at their contemporaries over style of play isn’t uncommon in football, but poking fun at one’s predecessor however is a bit strange, but Jose Peseiro found time to remind Super Eagles fans of an era when the football was “boring”.

Peseiro took a slight dig at his predecessor, Gernot Rohr, over the German’s ultra-conservative style.

Despite, the former’s relative success with the team, he was sacked, and among other reasons given for the decision, Rohr was blamed for style lack of inventiveness and boring football.

His team had also just lost 1-0 to the Central African Republic in a FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Lagos.

“In this moment, I am happy because I needed the win, it’s not about the result because we lost against Guinea-Bissau, but I speak about the model and about our organisation.

“You show everybody that likes quality football with the pass, with control, with two strikers.”

“We try to play in attack everytime sometimes we could not of course. We try to play an offensive game demanded by the fans and the people, the last coach left because the people complained about that.”
