Women’s 100 meters hurdle world record holder Tobi Amusan revealed that her foray into Athletes was an accident, and she initially started as a footballer.

In a Chat with FL, Amusan revealed she was just a sporty person and didn’t see herself becoming a professional athlete, but engaged in Sports to escape from her routine of Home, Church and School.

She also revealed that she didn’t know she could excel as an Athlete, until a coach took her to the tracks and her career kick-started from there.

Today, the 25 year-old is a world record holder, becoming the first Nigerian world champion in an athletics event, when she won the 2022 World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal.

She also boasts of back-to-back Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100m hurdles and she is also a two-time African Games champion in the event.
