Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was singled out for praise by pundits after he showed great team spirit in Napoli’s 3-2 defeat against Villarreal.
Osimhen got on the score sheet, scoring an equalizer after Etienne Capoue had put the yellow Submarines in front.
Coach Luciano Spalletti decided to give the Nigerian a rest in the 62nd minute, but five minutes later Villarreal took the lead again.
Osimhen chose not to sit in the dugout, rather he was on the sidelines cheering his teammates on as they battled on to find the equalizer against Villarreal.
Football pundit Carmine Martino, was very vocal about his admiration for the attitude of the youngster, pointing out the Nigerian striker’s commitment and dedication to his teammates.
“The Nigerian centre-forward, after being replaced, remained on the sideline and urged his teammates until the end to find the equalizer,” Martino said during Radio Goal, a program broadcast on Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I was very pleased because I saw the desire to be an integral part of the group even if not on the pitch. A good signal for everyone.”
Up next for Napoli is a friendly against Lille at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium tomorrow, before returning for competitive action against Inter Milan in the new year.
