Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen had a day to remember as he netted his first senior club career hat-trick in the 4-nil demolition of Sassuolo at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples.

Osimhen has been on fire in the Serie A and fresh from scoring the match decider in the close contest against Roma last week he has further underlined his status as the team’s main man with a fine hat-trick against Sassuolo.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been in scintillating form and after four minutes the Georgian winger provided the first goal for Osimhen and he headed down a cross for the Nigerian striker to poke in.

Napoli were the better team and Sassuolo’s timid defensive display encouraged Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen to combine again as the in form pair tore them apart 16 minutes later.

A sublime Kvaratskheli’s pass found the run of Osimhen who colly converted for his second goal in the opening 20 minutes.

Having provided a brace of assist Kvaratskhelia wasn’t to be denied his name on the score sheet as the Georgian latched on Mario Rui’s lofted cross to leave the keeper dead and extend Napoli’s lead to three in thirty six minutes.

Since joining Napoli two seasons ago, Victor Osimhen hasn’t scored a hat-trick, and he only previously scored three times in a game on international duty with Nigeria.

The second half was more of the same, with Napoli on the stronger foot, but the flow of the game was disrupted numerous times with substitutions from both teams.

Osimhen was lively and in the 77th minute his hat-trick came and it was in style.

Victor Osimhen saw Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli was off his line and sent a perfectly timed long shot over the Italian to grab his first hat-trick for Napoli and increase his league tally to 10 goals in 7 matches.
