Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye had an outstanding season with Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel, contributing significantly to the team’s highly successful campaign.

Hapoel Jerusalem finished fourth in the league; the championship, and Adeleye’s individual performance was also recognized.

The Nigerian received nomination for the goalkeeper of the season, and had the honor of making his international debut with the Super Eagles.

In a conversation with FL, Adeleye expressed his appreciation for the team’s accomplishments, and considers the season to be truly special.

He shared insights into his journey and his subsequent progression to become Hapoel Jerusalem’s first-choice goalkeeper, establishing himself as one of the league’s top shot stoppers.

Adeleye holds aspirations of playing for a prominent European club and, at the age of 23, he believes that Israel is the right pathway for him to fulfill his dreams.

“I think we had a good season; the team, the players and myself.

“We finished 4th in the Championship playoff, and it’s the first time in the club’s history. To make it in Israel League is very hard.

“It’s a good league though and for me, it’s a good place to start your career and it will help (me) get opportunities in Europe.”

“It’s a good place for me and I’ve been playing there since the age of 19, and started in the youth team and from there I was promoted to the main team.

“I had one season with the youth team and two seasons with the main team before getting promoted to the Israel Premier League.

“It hasn’t been easy and it was a result of hard work and I’m really happy and also for the team.”
