Nigeria’s hopes of making it to the 2026 Olympics was shattered, Tuesday night, when the team lost 2-0 Guinea.
The Guinea U23 team beat their Nigerian counterparts to the ticket to reach reach the CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Following the goalless first-leg result I Abuja, the U23 Eagles needed a score draw in the return leg of the qualifiers, in Morocco to confirm their progress, but it wasn’t to be.
Two second half goals, first from Algassime Bah in the 62nd minute and Alseny Soumah in the 75th minute sealed Nigeria’s fate.
The U23 Eagles have now failed to qualify for back to back Olympics.
