Golden Eaglets Forward dismisses U17 AFCON favourite

The Golden Eaglets will play their first game of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, today, when they take on Zambia.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Eaglets forward Precious Williams has dismissed claims that Nigeria are the outright favourites to dominate their group.

Nigeria is paired with Zambia, South Africa and Morocco in group B and Williams ensured he reminded everyone that the competition is a developmental one that would be great for their exposure.

“Every nation in our group we respect them. We are here to develop, and to expose ourselves. So, we can’t say we’re the favorite in our group because we haven’t played,” said the Eaglets forward.

“So we play according to our coaches’ instructions; we play as a team and attack as a team, defend as a team, and at the end of the day, we hope God helps us make our nation smile.”
