Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and Angola have qualified for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil as well as the semifinals of the U17 ACON today in Tanzania.
The Eaglets forced Uganda to a 1-1 draw in their final Group A clash, while Angola battered hosts Tanzania 4-2.
Nigeria thus won the group on seven points, a point more than second-placed Angola.
They will face the runners-up of Group B for a place in the tournament final, while Angola will battle the winners of that group.
After a scoreless first half during which both teams had chances to score but failed to do so, the Eaglets fell behind when John Alou headed the Cubs of Uganda ahead off a corner.
However, five minutes later Nigeria drew level through the lively Ibraheem Jaabar, who coolly controlled a long ball before he slotted past the impressive Uganda goalkeeper.
