Nigeria goalkeeping Legend, Peter Rufai has called for calm among football fans in the country calling for Maduka Okoye to be left out of the team following the Young Goalkeeper’s continued absence.

Okoye, who moved to his new club side, Watford FC in the English Championship, has not featured for Nigeria since the Africa Cup Of Nation’s round of 16 exit earlier this year.
The young Goalie was between the sticks against Tunisia at the AFCON, and was also blamed for conceding the match winning goal.
While his decision not to honor NT invitations has been greeted by angst, Okoye though, claims he needed to sort out issues with his new club, as he had just completed a switch from Sparta Rotterdam to Watford.
While speaking to FL, Peter Rufai said that it is important for the Super Eagles goalie to work things out properly with Watford.
Rufai also urged Okoye however to fight to get his national team spot back, but, the former Eagles shot stopper maintains, that Okoye shouldn’t be given preference and the Goalkeepers should be picked strictly on merit.
