Former Super Eagles defender George Abbey has blasted the shortcomings of the NT defense.
When asked about his thoughts on the ability of Super Eagles CB, William Troost-Ekong, the former player gave a stern assessment.
Abbey George revealed that the problem of Nigeria’s defense is not down to an individual, but to the collective and currently the collection of players aren’t reliable.
“It depends on the level you are asking,” He responded when asked on Brila FM’s show “No Holds Barred”. “If it’s for the Super Eagles, I have always maintained that our defense is not good enough to compete on the elite level.
“We don’t have good central defenders in our National team and it’s terrible.”
The Super Eagles have kept just one clean sheet in their last five games – friendlies included – and it was in that 10-0 victory over Sao Tome and Principe.
