Genk head of football refuses to rule out Onuachu’s Exit

Paul Onuachu has been in terrific form for KRC Genk, since signing for them in 2019 from FC Midtjylland.

The Nigerian has gone on to record over 80 goals in all competitions since then and after crossing over the 20 League goal mark in two successive seasons; the forward already have 13 goals in 14 matches this season.

Onuachu is becoming too much of a hot property for Genk and suitor’s are circling.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Lyon reportedly leading the chase to snap him out of the Cegeka Arena.

A fee of around €25 million is being floated about and Genk head of football Dmitri De Conde revealed as quoted by Voetbal Primeur, that although they will try to convince the forward to stay, they will eventually not stand in his way should a good offer come in and the striker is willing to leave.

“Onuachu’s situation remains something special,” Conde said.

“At his age, you never know what will happen. If an offer comes, we can’t just block it. But then Wouter and I will do everything we can to convince him to stay.”

Paul Onuachu, 28, is being professional about his situation at the club despite interests to prise him from Belgium.

The Nigeria’s goal is to make a move to any of Europe’s big leagues while he is still at the peak of his powers.

At the moment, Onuachu is revered by Genk faithfuls and is well on his way to becoming a club legend.

So far this season, His goals have seen Genk maintain a 10 point lead over last season’s champions Royale Union SG at the top of the Belgium Jupiler Pro League table.
