Gateway United FC of Ogun State will hope to redeem its image in the Aiteo Cup round of 64 against Almar FC of Ijebu Ode ahead of the second stanza of the 2018/2019 Nigeria National League.
Almar FC has crowned champions of 2019 Ogun FA Cup having defeated Gateway United FC 3-2 via penalties in the final on the 28th April 2019 at MKO Abiola Int’l Stadium.
Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan will now play host to the round of 64 clashes between the two Ogun State outfits by 4 pm on Sunday 26th May 2019.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Gateway United boss Akeem Busari said all is set for a good outing in Aiteo Cup.
“We will take it game by game. Our first task is to dispatch Almar FC which will allow us to progress to the round of 32. We are not complacent, in fact, it’s like we are facing Enyimba or Rangers. That’s the mindset and it will bring out the best out of our players as we hope to redeem our image”
“Ahead of the remaining NNL matches, the Aiteo will do us a lot of good, therefore as we are eyeing a huge turnaround of results in NNL, we won’t also take Aiteo cup with levity” he concluded.
Gateway United FC will slug it out with Rovers FC in Abeokuta after the NNL break which paved way for the Aiteo Cup Round of 64 fixtures.
