Flying Eagles forward Adeshina Issa Gata as commented that Wikki Tourists were ‘calm’ about recent form, as the team believed ‘that they were doing things right’.
The Giant Elephants have endured a difficult start to the season in the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), but a 2-0 victory over Rivers United served as a sigh of relief to them.
“We had not been picking up the points, but the team always had a good feeling that they were doing things right,” Issa Gata considered to Footballlive.ng.
“We had played well and we had not won. We were calm, though, because we were not playing badly and knew that victory was close.
“In the end, no-one remembers the bad performance, but the three points earned.
Abba Umar and Gata were on song for Wikki Tourists against the Pride of Rivers at the Pantami Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
“The win gives us room and tranquillity with which to face the next games. Now we need to think towards the future.
“They too will be complicated, as it is tough throughout the League.
“There is a great demand in upcoming games, many to play yet, but we continue with the ambition of playing to our true potential.
“The team has shown that we always play the same way. The Coach is calm because the players are responding.”
