Frank Onyeka played a pivotal role in Brentford’s remarkable 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In their 10th Premier League game of the season, Brentford faced Chelsea, and despite the host’s four-game unbeaten run, the Bees came away with the win, stunning the home crowd.
Brentford’s manager, Frank Thomas, initially had Onyeka on the bench. He opted for a three-man midfield with two wing-backs.
And they took the lead when Bryan Mbeumo delivered a cross headed into the net by Ethan Pinnock, scoring his first goal of the season.
Chelsea’s assistant manager, Jesús Pérez, was sent off late in the game.
The Bees nearly doubled their lead from a counter-attack, with Robert Sánchez making a crucial save before Mbeumo missed a shot.
In stoppage time, Sánchez went up for a corner but couldn’t return in time, allowing Mbeumo to tap the ball into an empty net.
This disappointing loss means Chelsea has won just one of their last 13 Premier League home games.
Meanwhile, Brentford climb into the top half of the table after securing back-to-back victories following a six-match winless league run.
