Super Falcons winger Francesca Ordega has sent a heartwarming message to the fans and management of Washington Spirit FC after completing a switch to the Chinese Women Super League with Shanghai WFC on a one year deal.
The 25-year old Nigerian international joined the American team in 2015 from Swedish football outfit Pitea IF where she scored 13 times for the American club.
According to reports, the Nigerian decided not to put pen to paper with the US-based team after securing a more lucrative deal with the Chinese team when the Super Falcons traveled for a pre-World Cup build-up invitational tournament in China in early 2019.
Ordega took to her Instagram handle to appreciate the love she received in the United States capital during her four-year stint. “I am grateful to you all. My fans, teammates, coaches @spiritsquadron and everyone who has contributed to my success with the @washingtonspirit. You guys made a big difference in my Life for the past four years. I would like to say that you guys are so thoughtful and caring, really cannot find the right words to express myself better.
I am really really thankful to have such amazing and sweet ladies as teammates. Sad to say goodbye but then I gat to face the reality of Life by accepting the new challenge. I will be rooting for you guys from the other side of the world. America my second and adopted Home. Love ya all.”
During her time with the Washinton Spirits, Ordega had loan stints at Sydney FC in Australia and Atletico Madrid in Spain. Ordega will wear the number 11 jersey at her new club.
