Former coach of relegated NPFL side Niger Tornadoes Hamzat Abara has faulted the timing of the club’s decision to embark on squad overhaul ahead of the team’s participation in the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup.
Tornadoes have 10 days before their first round qualifying match against Guinea’s Santoba Conakry and Abara argues the overhaul was ill-timed.
Abara, who guided the team to the Federation cup semi-final before been replaced by Abubakar Bala, told footballlive.ng that the action was potentially counter-productive.
“Almost 95 percent of the players were dropped. I’m afraid from the look of things, Tornadoes will be parading new players and 9 days is not enough for them to prepare.
“This is the continent. These are Continental matches loading not friendly matches. I think this is a very bad decision they took.”
