FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o has announced the sack of Antonio Conceicao with only a few weeks to Cameroon’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Algeria.

Conceicao was in charge for 29 months guiding the Indomitable Lions to a third place spot at the 2021 AFCON on home soil.
The Portuguese was in charge for 23 games and lost only two, but became highly unpopular after the team failed to pick up a 6th AFCON title.
Meanwhile, Several News outlets in Cameroon as well as Sports Journalist Angu Lesley are reporting that Indomitable Lions legend and former captain Rigobert Song is expected to be named as his replacement.
Song is the choice of former teammate and now FA President, Samuel Eto’o, but faced staunch opposition from the Minister of Sport.
Rigobert Song was in charge of the Lions briefly in 2016 and was guided the home based team to the CHAN tournament in 2018.
He is currently head coach of the Olympic team but is expected to take up the Indomitable Lions job along side former teammate Raymond Kalla as team Manager.
Simo Augustine and former Uganda coach Sebastine Migne will serve as his assistants with Souleymanou Hamidou as his goalkeeper Coach.
