Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West, has hailed striker Victor Osimhen for the Forward’s consistency this season.
West also tipped the 24 year-old to claim the prestigious CAF African player award ahead of Bayern Munich’s Senegalese forward, Sadio Mane.
Osimhen has been in impressive form for Napoli this term in the Serie A, with 14 goals
West, who played for Inter Milan, described the young forward as a Star and predicts he has much more to achieve.
The former CB was on Brila FM’s breakfast show, No Holds Barred with Ifeanyi Udeze.
“He is doing well, even though he still has some distance to go,” West said. “Playing in the Serie A is not easy.”
“He could be a good club player and not good for the national team, but Osimhen combines both, and if he keeps the consistency, he is not far from winning the CAF African player of the year.”
“With Salah and Mane not up to par with their standards, he (Osimhen) is ahead of them, and if he can continue to score goals, he should win it.
“With these signs, it shows that Nigerian sports can come back to reckoning, the air is clearing and the spirit will bounce back again through Osimhen in football.”
