Former FC Porto star considers Mikel Obi “Professor of Football”

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has acknowledge comments about his midfield mastery in a quote credited to Portugal international and Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Rúben Neves.

Mikel who played some of his best football for Chelsea between 2006 and 2017, was the standard for young FC Porto players and Neves was one of them.

 

In the quote, per Proper football and shared on Instagram by Mikel, Neves admitted FC Porto Coaches would hand out video tapes to the young footballers to study them.

 

The players, in turn, would later refer to the Nigerian midfielder as “The Professor of Football”, a gesture he feels quite “honored” to have earned unbeknownst.

During his time at Chelsea, Mikel won two premier league titles, The UEFA Champions League and the Europa League among others.
