Flying Eagles Storm Niger Republic January 27th

Date:

Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles are billed to travel out to Niamey, Niger Republic on January 27th, as they head out for the 2019 African U-20 Cup of Nations.

Footballlive.ng gathered that, before the trip to the U20 AFCON 2019 venue, Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun will name his final list for the competition early next week.

Although the initial plan was for Aigbogun to name his provisional squad this week, officials at Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) explained that a couple of logistics issues mean he will roll out a full final list instead.

The seven time African champions, who finished as runners-up at the 2018 WAFU U20 Cup Championship in Lome, Togo in December, have been at a training camp in Abuja for more than two weeks.

At the U-20 AFCON competition, which will take place from 2nd to 17th February, Nigeria will square up against the hosts, Niger Republic, South Africa and Burundi in Group A.

Senegal, which defeated Nigeria 2-0 in the final to win the WAFU U20 Cup, will battle fellow West Africans Mali, Ghana and Burkina Faso in Group B in the Nigerien city of Maradi.

The Flying Eagles, who will stay at Hotel Royal in Niamey, edged Guinea Bissau on aggregate, before blasting past Mauritania in the last qualifier.
