Former Super Eagles defender Abiodun Obafemi has lauded the preparation of the Nigeria U20 team after the team’s 4-2 win their Zambian counterparts.
The Flying Eagles are unbeaten in all of their encounters so far and are set to travel to Morocco on Wednesday for a series of international friendlies as part of preparation for the U20 AFCON.
Nigeria has been drawn against host nation Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique in the tournament which will also serve as qualifiers for the FIFA U20 World Cup.
In a chat with FL Obafemi pointed out that the Flying Eagles need to improve defensively, but has backed the Ladan Bosso-led technical crew to deliver the goods.
“I am happy the coach did the right thing, what I expected him to do because when you are preparing for a tournament such as the African championships you need to play the right opposition to know the level of preparation.
“I am happy because the Chipolopolo are a well tutored team, and the little I watched about the match honestly it was an enthralling match.
“What we need to do now is work more on the defence, you don’t score and concede immediately, I believe the Coaches need to work on the team’s level of their concentration; the thing is not balanced.”
“I know the coach very well, he must have tidied up that loose end, there are some games when you score one that should be the end of it, other times you stay very tight. They have a potent attack, I saw beautiful goals I saw good movement, it’s a team brimming with confidence.”
