Nigeria beat Egypt the slimmest of margins to get their U20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign back on track.

The Flying Eagles pipped their Egyptian counterparts, the Young Pharaohs 1-0 on Wednesday at the Cairo International Stadium, courtesy Solomon Agbalaka’s 71st minute header.

A relief for Ladan Bosso’s side who kick-started the tournament with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Senegal.

However, the overall performance of the team left much to be desired as they struggled and toiled in attack for a team.

There was an obvious lack of synergy in the link up play; the build up and advance plays were fruitless as the team resorted to route one football.

Egypt were wasteful with the chances created but they also found Chijioke Aniagboso difficult to beat. The Flying Eagles was very solid between the sticks.

With the pressure of picking their first points now lifted, Bosso and his players will aim to secure a convincing win against Mozambique; in their final group game, to secure an automatic spot in the next round.

They all should remember that qualification for the FIFA U20 World cup is at stake and the country must at least reach the Semi finals to qualify.
