Assistant head coach of the Flying Eagles, Fatai Amoo has suggested that the Team will comprise of more experienced players rather than those in Academies, when preparation for the FIFA U20 World Cup commences.

After Nigeria’s campaign at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, head Coach, Ladan Bosso had stated that fresh legs will be recruited for the team.

He stressed that the incomings will be among the best young players in the NPFL, who have impressed so far this season.

Speaking with FL, Amoo responded to the proposed composition of the Flying Eagles for the World Cup in Indinesia.

He said, “First of all, experience is the best teacher, and having motivation or being hungry in terms of having the hunger to achieve success is key.

“In the past when we have done relatively well in the under 20 teams; from ’83, I can tell you almost all if not all were playing either in the state leagues or the national league.”

“As far back as 1983, if you check the teams to ’85 to ’87, ’89; the Damman miracle. Check the players, they were either in the state Leagues or the National league. Then, we did not have academies like now but we have the state league, all over the federation, there was no state without it.

“So, it is not about the academy, it is about the individual, and what they want from their careers.”
