Umar Sadiq was in action for Real Sociedad as they defeated Getafe 4-3 to take away all three points from a tricky and tense encounter at the Reale Arena in La Liga.

Sadiq started his first League game this season and played 57 minutes of football, but was unable to make his presence count, as he couldn’t find the back of the net despite playing in a two-pronged attack alongside Brias Mendez.

The goals came early, with Takefusa Kubo scoring in the 2nd minute of the encounter before Carles Alena equalized for Getafe thirty-seven minutes later.

Borja Mayoral then put Getafe in the lead with a well-taken penalty to give the visitors the lead at halftime.

The start of the second half saw a rejuvenated Real Sociedad side, and after some tactical tweaks from manager Alguacil Imanol, Mikel Oyarzabal came off the bench and scored two goals to decide the encounter.

The first was from the penalty spot to equalize, and the second was the match-winner, with Real Sociedad’s fourth of the encounter.

Umar Sadiq’s strike partner, Brias Mendez, was also on the score sheet with the third goal for Real Sociedad.

Interestingly, the game against Getafe last year was the last time Sadiq started a competitive game for Real Sociedad before the knee ligament injury that kept him out of action for 246 days.
