He drove the travelling Reds fans wild, who watched as their team not only broke the resistance of an in form Arsenal side, but also move to within a point of league leaders Manchester City in this season’s title race.
Liverpool were actual favorites to win, having not lost to Arsenal in 4 matches – winning 3 of those – and also enjoying a 9 run of games without a defeat.
However, although they struggled to break the Arsenal defence in the first half, Diogo Jota lite up the Emirates Stadium and shushed the home crowd with the opener in the second half, before Firmino’s dagger.
Despite the defeat, Arsenal remain fourth in the standings, but the Gunners must make the next outstanding fixtures if they must keep the chasing pack at bay.
