The Nigeria Women’s senior team, Super Falcons, have been drawn against host country, Australia, Ireland and Canada in Group B of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Super falcons will play Olympic Champions Canada in their opening group game; a match with all the trappings of a stern test for the Nigerian side.

In their most recent head to head battle, Nigeria faced Canada twice, six months ago, losing one and drawing the other.

Next year’s World Cup will feature 32 teams, for the first time, consequently making it the biggest Women’s World Cup tournament, so far since its inaugural edition, China ’91.

It will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, matches will be played across nine different cities.

Only seven teams have featured in every Women’s World Cup tournament, with Nigeria being the only side from Africa to have achieves this feat while USA, Brazil, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Japan make up the number of teams to have played in every edition since its inception in 1991.
