Nigeria U20 MNT captain, Daniel Bameyi has vowed that the team would recover from their dismal loss to Brazil U20 in their final group D match of the FIFA U20 World Cup.

On Saturday night in La Plata, Nigeria U20 lost 2-nil to the South Americans; it was the first defeat for Ladan Bosso’s team in the competition.

Bosso’s team finished third in Group D after dropping from first place, and they now face a challenging Round of 16 match up against either host Argentina, or the United States.

According to Bameyi, the Flying Eagles will do as much as they can to return to winning ways when they play their round-of-16 fixture against the team they get drawn against.

“It was disappointing that we lost. We wanted to win to keep our winning record, but that’s football,” the defender said in a post-match interview.

“We’re sorry we lost, while we appreciate the support of Nigerians. We will bounce back.”
