FIFA has stripped Peru of the hosting rights of the U17 World Cup that was billed to hold later this year between November 10 and December 2.

Peru was announced as hosts, it was confirmed during a FIFA Council meeting on October 24, 2019 in Shanghai, after the 2021 competition was cancelled.

Peru, however, renounced its role as host on April 3, 2023, after lengthy negotiations with FIFA and the Peruvian Football Federation (PFF).

The decision was reached in light of the host nation’s failure to fulfil its obligations to finish building the necessary infrastructure to conduct the competition.

The Golden Eaglets have a chance to qualify for the tournament when they play for a ticket at the CAF U17 AFCON.
